Would you do anything for your friends?
Well here is your chance to prove it!
so in the past few months i've gotten really passionate about donating blood. it makes me sad to see how many people just won't do it and for the most stupid reasons ever! it's so easy and SO needed. i got a call the other day from the blood bank i went to in virginia asking me to come donate again because they need it so badly and i can't but think of how many others can but they just don't. pick a cause that is close to your heart and sometimes that makes it even more worth it, at least for me it is. i was donating for the military people who were injured and such there. now since i can't do that i think i will start going to childrens hospital. not that just doing it at a regular old blood bank for the american red cross is not important but for me it's an even greater reward to know what i'm helping with. :)
i really hope to hear about more people donating soon!
- just ONE pint of blood saves up to 3 lives... not a bad trade!
- it takes doctors 4 years of medical school to save lives, it can take you as little as 10 minutes.
- every hour someone needs blood, yet less the 5% of the population donates blood!

* an organ transplant recipient needs up to 40 units of red blood cells, 30 units of platelets, & 25 units of plasma
* a marrow transplant recipient needs up to 20 units of red blood cells & 120 units of platelets
* a cancer patient needs up to 8 units of platelets a WEEK
* a heart surgery patient needs up to 6 units of red blood cells & 6 units of platelets
* a premature infant needs up to 4 units of platelets
now how many of you have known someone in one of those situations before? wouldn't you want someone to help you if that was you? donate now while you can you never know what could happen.
